AROUND hawks barn

We are in one of the most spectacular areas of the Yorkshire Dales, quite literally, the area is breathtaking and exudes beauty at every turn!

​

Hawks Barn is in a peaceful hamlet called New Houses, Horton-in-Ribblesdale . Just a ten minute walk from the The Crown Hotel Pub and with direct access to a multitude of trails and adventures direct from the doorstep, whether on foot, bike or train.

​

Having a local train station, guests can easily access other attractions nearby. i.e Ribblehead Viaduct is seven minutes by train or can be accessed by bike or on foot. Kirkby Stephen (start of the Pennine Bridleway) is thirty-five minutes by train or a days ride by Bike on the Pennine Bridleway. Settle is seven minutes by train or accessible by footpath or bridleway. There are many more exciting routes and combinations to explore and we are only too happy to advise.

For guests interested in Wild Camping, Climbing, Paragliding and Caving, we are very well positioned as a central base to enjoy all that this area has to offer.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

The endless trails of winding single track, technical climbs and long fast descent's are a bikers paradise.  Combine this with stunning scenery and a multitude of circular and non-circular routes, what else could you ask for.

​

Our in depth local knowledge will ensure that no two rides are the same and heading out in all directions will offer something special every time.  Check out some of our mountain biking routes that are shown on our viewranger page.

Hawks Barn is also ideally positioned for adventures along the 205 mile (330km) long Pennine Bridleway National Trail running through the Pennine hills from Derbyshire to Cumbria.  Whether you are tackling the entire route or a section of it through the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Hawks Barn provides an ideal start or end base for a variety of trips.

WILD CAMPING

Situated in open countryside our homestead has 360 degree panoramic views of Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside  This unique setting makes a wild camping experience spectacular and memorable.

ROCK CLIMBING

With climbing opportunities in Langcliffe, Settle, Ingleton and Malham, Hawks Barn is well placed for vertical adventures a plenty. 

WALKING

Whether you're tackling the famous Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge or ascending just one, there are plenty of different circular or non-circular routes to enjoy.  There's a plethora of public rights of way, open access land and long distance routes surrounding us to cater for any duration of stay.

Our in depth local knowledge will ensure that no two walks are the same and heading out in all directions will offer something special.  Check out some of our short walks, day long hikes or more that are shown on our viewranger page.

Hawks Barn is also ideally positioned for adventures along the Pennine Way.  Steeped in history, this National Trail follows the mountain tops along the rugged backbone of England and offers 268 miles of the finest upland walking in England.  A once in a lifetime experience.  Whether you are tackling the entire route or a section of it through the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Hawks Barn provides an ideal base for a variety of trips.

CAVING

There's a fantastic variety of caving experiences on offer in the Yorkshire Dales to suit many abilities.   Hawks Barn is well placed as your base whilst enjoying some of them.
